Full of Grace -
Our Lady Of Medjugorje Appears to Vicka in Dublin
DATE Thursday 17th February 2011
Dublin’s RDS was full of grace this afternoon when Our Lady appeared to Medjugorje visionary Vicka Mijatovic.
Tuesday’s Child joined with thousands of other pilgrims in the RDS to welcome Vicka to Ireland.
Vicka, the eldest of the six Medjugorje visionaries, was 16 years old when Our Lady first appeared to her and five other children on June 25th 1981. Thirty years on, she receives daily apparitions from Our Lady at 4.40 p.m. GMT. Some 30 million pilgrims have visited Medjugorje, since the apparitions first began.
As the time drew near for today’s apparition, Vicka came to the podium explaining that our crosses and sufferings are gifts from God and we must embrace them with love. She told the crowd that when she fell to her knees this would indicate the arrival of Our Lady, then she lead the rosary in her native tongue. During the third Our Father, at exactly 4.40 p.m., she dropped to her knees and looking up to above a statue of Our Lady of Medjugorje, her face lit up with a most beautiful glow, her eyes danced with joy and she smiled and nodded, remaining in a trance- like state, in quiet conversation with a vision only she could see.
“It is such a blessing to be here today and watch this miracle unfold and be so close to Our Lady and witness the sheer joy and ecstasy reflected in Vicka’s smiling face. All eyes were fixed on Vicka and the area above the statue of Our Lady. You could hear a pin drop as thousands looked on, praying their own intentions in the silence of their hearts. The sheer peace of these some 12 minutes was incredible”, said Orla Sheehan of Tuesday’s Child.
After the apparition finished, Vicka said “Our Lady came tonight very happy and as every evening she comes she says hello to Her son Jesus. She extended her hands over everyone and prayed for each of you. Her first message is prayer, peace, conversion, confession and fasting”. Our Lady also asked for prayers especially for young people and for more prayer in families and prayer from the heart. She said that we must have peace in our families, communities and in our hearts before we can pray for peace in the world and that Our Lady wants us to pray more, especially the mass and the rosary. “The holy mass is the most important prayer of all and the daily rosary will protect us from evil”, said Vicka. “Our Lady also asks you for your prayers for a special plan of hers to come to fruition”.
“Our hearts are like plants, we must water our heart with prayer each day for it to blossom into a beautiful rose. Without prayer, like a plant without water, our hearts will wither and die”, explained Vicka.
After Vicka’s speech, mass was concelebrated by many priests and included prayers for Ireland. The warmth and affection Irish pilgrims have for Vicka was clear to see, many rushing towards her, trying to touch her hands or ask for her blessing before she was whisked away to a waiting car as the congregation lifted the roof with Our Lady of Knock, the atmosphere more rock concert than prayer event.
Tuesday’s Child was inspired by a visit to Medjugorje in May 2006 and is one of the many fruits of this heavenly village in Bosnia Herzegovina. The charity helps children living in extreme hardship around the world and gives 100 percent of donations received. The charity is best known in Ireland for their work for children in Palestine, especially for children in Gaza. Tuesday’s Child also prays for all children and young people suffering injustice and violation of their human rights and against evil perpetrated towards them.
“It is such a wonderful blessing to have Vicka here in Ireland and witness her daily apparition from Our Lady”, said Tuesday’s Child. “The fervour today is reminiscent of Pope John Paul’s visit to Ireland in 1979. We are here today, to ask Our Lady to bless the work of Tuesday’s Child and to pray for an end to the persecution of children around the world, especially in Palestine, the country of Our Lady’s birth. When the Holy Family fled Herod’s slaughter of innocent children, they escaped from Bethlehem to Egypt through Gaza. Today, there are 800,000 children in Gaza, who cannot flee, they have nowhere to run to, they are trapped within a wall of steel in the most inhumane of conditions. These children are always in our hearts and we pray that Our Lady, by calling people to pray and fast for peace, will set them free”.
“Today however is about Ireland. It is a wonderful blessing for Ireland. We hope that Vicka’s visit will touch the hearts of people of Ireland, especially our children and young people”, said Tuesday’s Child.
Vicka is a guest of Ryan Tubridy on RTE’s Late Late Show on Fri 18th February and will be visiting venues in Michelstown, Cork city, Tralee and Roscommon.
