VENUE    STORM CINEMA, THE ODYSSEY, BELFAST

DATE        Wed 18TH November 2009

TIME         8 p.m.

The Belfast based charity Tuesday’s Child is hosting a sing-a-long cinema tonight in Belfast at Storm Cinema in The Odyssey, featuring the 1978 classic Grease is The Word, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John.

The event invites all pink ladies, T-birds and beauty school drop outs to come along and join in the fun. The audience will sing-a-long to all those disco favourites: Summer Nights, Greased Lightning and You’re The One That I Want.

There will be a prize for the best Pink Lady and T-Bird of the evening. The night will also include a raffle with prizes ranging from beauty boxes donated by Medicare pharmacy and vouchers for treatments from leading hair and nail salons in Belfast.

The event is proving particularly popular with hair salons and beauty parlours. Staff from a number of salons in Belfast are coming along ”, said Tuesday’s Child. “We even have some pink curlers and extra strength hair gel among the prizes!

A welcome drink is also provided.

Tickets for the event cost £10 and are available online at www.tuesdayschild.org.uk or from Good Vibes Record Shop Winetavern Street. All proceeds go to building a school for children and young people in southern India. Tuesday’s Child gives 100 percent of proceeds.

One Country Country Spotlight: Democratic Republic of Congo... The recent civil war in eastern DRC has devastated many aspects of life and children are among those most affected. A population size equivalent to that of Ireland, north and south, died either through direct conflict or displacement. Mulongo is a school catering for about 2000 children. The school is one of many decimated during the war. It needs rebuilt and basic school supplies and a playground facility with better salaries to retain underpaid teachers. The Active Christian Evangelism (ACE) Group, lead by Dr Graham Fry, is funding the project; more funds are needed. Other areas in needs are feeding programmes, health promotion programmes and support of a new maternity hospital. Find out more about the Countries we help...
